Borée Rocks

Embed this item to access it offline
A short, very easy loop in a grand landscape, at the heart of the Monts d'Ardèche Park. The view on Mont Mézenc is stunning.
Starting at the gorgeous polychromatic church of Borée, the walk around the rocks (the small one and the big one) will enable you to discover these impressive rocks and the Gouleyou, "the miniature Gerbier". Between the two rocks, the view is unobstructed on Mont Mézenc and the Boutières Cirque. A family outing to find all the answers about the sucs formation, with a very photogenic and accessible panorama.

Description

  1. In the village, in front of the city hall. At the hike pole marker, go left towards "Tour du rocher de Borée, 1.2 km" and take the road going uphill on the right.
  2. Then take the second alleyway on the left in the direction of "Croix de Boutières, 6.6 km" and follow the road uphill to go out of the village.
  3. At the crossways, take the path on the left (Tour du rocher de Borée, 1 km - Borée, 1.2 km) going into the forest.
  4. Head past the reservoir. The path makes a wide bend to the right and continues in the forest. It soon goes out of the woods at the top of a small pass, crosses a huge scree and opens on the grand landscape of Mont Mézenc and the Boutières Cirque. At the end of the scree, an interpretive board explains this landscape unique in Europe. The way down then offers beautiful sights on the Eysse Valley and the Sara Suc.
  5. Once on the road, take it on the left towards the village to get back to the church and the square, your starting point.
