A beautiful hike in a very important part of the Monts d'Ardèche Park's vineyards. It will lead you to the heart of the Chatus terraces.
Rosières is an important place in the Ardèche vineyards, and also offers the vines path, that will lead you to the Chatus terraces, to try and understand the mysterious alchemy between geology and wine. Interspersed with explicative boards, crossing terraced vineyards, this walk proposes to discover a landscape made of sandstone and very much wine oriented. A hike to enjoy without moderation !

Description

  1. Cross the road going along the square where the walk starts. Turn left towards Joyeuse.
  2. Before the bridge, turn right on the road to Vernon. Go up to Le Pont.
  3. Then follow "Croix de Bonneton 1.9 km, Vernon, 5.3 km" on a track going between rows of vines before entering an undergrowth of evergreen oaks. Carry on uphill then turn right on a track, and after that on a path. Carry on straight ahead up to a tarmacked road.
  4. Turn left, and left again in the hairpin bend. Continue on the road up to a house, then up to the crossroads.
  5. Take the direction of la Crotte and continue up to the Bonneton Cross.
  6. Once there, take the direction of "Rosières, 4.1 km" along rows of vines. At the end of the rows, take the track on your right up to the hamlet of Balbiac.
  7. In the hamlet, turn left, then right, cross the hamlet square and continue on a tarmacked road along the cemetery.
  8. Further away, at the crossroads, go straight ahead. Continue past the Domaine du Grangeon.
  9. When the track turns left, take the path on the right. Follow carefully the markings up to Augnac.
  10. Once at Augnac, take the direction of "Rosières, 2.2 km" on a path in the undergrowth that goes along the brook, then crosses it, before going uphill to a house. Continue on the road leading to this house.
  11. At the next crossways, turn left and follow the road to la Fènerie.
  12. Take a path on the right after the houses. At the loop on your left, take the path going downhill on your right. Cross a track leading to a house  and continue in front of you. The path grows larger and crosses a brook on a footbridge. Go back uphill straight ahead on the path leading to an intersection with a narrow tarmacked road.
  13. Take this road up to Rosières.
  14. There, take the main street up to your starting point.
